Delhi – Romancing with Winters

I woke up to the annoying, high-pitched sound of alarm which was installed on my blackberry. I switched off it and found it was 7:00am. I fell out of my bed and stepped on my house shoes. And the winter season was upon us; almost the entire Delhi was freezing. I did not want to leave my bed and warm blanket but I made up my mind and approached the bathroom. Ah… waking up in the mornings is the hardest thing on the planet especially when the heat of winters is upon you.

I put my thoughts away and turned on the tap, the cold water started bursting from it. Then I also opened hot water tap. Thanks to the water heater, one of the greatest inventions the human mind has produced, from sparing me to cold, chilly water. Brushed my teeth and got ready within 20 minutes.

I held a comb and dragged it across my head. I looked up at the clock and noticed I was getting late. Moved my feet towards the kitchen swiftly and made a cup of coffee and some sandwiches for me. It was a sheer pleasure of drinking hot coffee in wintry morning and felt some warmth in my hands and body.
I grabbed the car keys placed next to fruit basket on the dining table. I locked the home and put the home keys into the left pocket of my coat.

As I came out outside the building, it felt someone has thrown me from a hot furnace (indoor) into a cold freezer (outdoor). It was cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.

“Thank god, I have worn a thick layer of clothing over my body” I said to myself while unlocking my car which was parked a few meters from the building.
While I was sitting in the car, I observed a massive layer of frost spread over the car window. I wiped it off with my hands as there was no piece of cloth present at that moment in the car.
I started my car and moved out of parking lot. While driving I perceived the whole city was enveloped in thick blanket of fog. People were hastening hither and thither. There was a hustle and bustle around the roads. I know winters create some obstacles in our lives but this is the only season in which Delhi, my darling city, looks captivating. Winters are charming; they magnify the beauty of Delhi.

Sometimes I think we Delhiites are really blessed to have winters, we experience all kinds of seasons: spring, summer, monsoon and autumn. Look at other cities like Bombay and Chennai, they always complaint about not having winters in their cities.

Finally, after all this haste, I reached the college on time. A few minutes later, teacher showed up in the class and began teaching her boring subject. My classmates and I acted like we were getting everything what she was teaching. My hands were freezing and to make it worse, she started dictating the notes. And you all know how hard it is to write and type in icy winters. We protested against it. Lekin kya kare karte , humari kismet hamara saath nahi de rahi thi. Dhokebaaz kismet!

While in the middle of the class going on, somebody spoke and I went into a dream.

a Luv Story

In the midst of summer 2008, I was enrolled into coaching institute in order to prepare for entrance exams. One day in the middle of the class, I noticed a girl who was gazing at me with her big, beautiful, sparkling eyes.
Whenever I glanced at her, I always caught her staring at me. This really made my heart beat very fast. Each moment I saw her, ‘Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Janaa Sanam’ started playing in my head.
Incidentally, I got a chance to sit next to her and she abruptly asked me,
“Do you have a spare pen?” in her sweet, soothing tone.
“Yes, I do have one”, I answered.
That’s how our first conversation started. We had a lot of things in common between us. We both belonged to science stream, our homes were nearby good and we both were good looking.
To Be Contd.....
